Halloween 2007, cont.
The saga continues, this time to the less favorable side.
(However, I do believe I should make note of the super kick butters punkins I carved, don't you? You'll note it's a big @ss punkin, with a wicked grin, eating a much smaller version of itself, who in turn is mucho frowning over the state of his being eaten...)
*ahem*
It pains me to admit this, but the kids this year were super rotten. I know, right? I could almost hear your collective "gasp!", but it's true. As per usual, Papa and I were prepared to take to the stairs, along with our punkins, and candy, patiently awaiting the arrival of the little ones. At 5:45, however, three teenage girls came to the door wanting their candy. Now, it's not dark at 5:45. I don't have so much of an issue with teens soliciting for candy, but can't you at least wait for dusk? I mean, the punkin wasn't even lit?!
Another little girl actually "eeeew-ed" the candy we gave her, suggesting folks these days "were giving out too many chips..." I couldn't really understand what she was talking about. I mean, she was speaking 8 year-old English, but:
- I had just given her a handful of gummy body parts and gumball eyeballs. Ne're a cheesie or chip in sight.
- In the world I live in, there can never be too many chips.
The final straw was the child dressed as Spiderman who refused to make the way up the path to collect candy from our house. Understanding his need to maximize footstep to candy ratio, and to cut him some slack, I offered to walk the candy down the path. "No" he says. "I don't want it." His mother tried to smooth it over by smiling and fussing with his costume. I then kindly offered to leave it at the end of the path for him. "I don't want any candy from your house." he says. "Fine," I said.
Jerk...
Sniff... I'll eat the damn gumballs.
Anyone else got a story to tell? Hmm?

so at my parents house we have a tradition that involves my brother, step father and I sitting on the front porch listening to some form of rock music and drinking beer to give out treats. Our one stipulation of treats is that we either guess what you are or you have to tell us. This year there were far too many punks ass kids who just put on a wig and that was it.... no idea what they were (at least when i did not have a "real" costume and just wore sunglasses and a scarf around my head, when people asked what I was I would say fabulous- hahaha). Anywho the jackasses are not creative enough to come up with something on their toes so we tell them to think about it while we give the rest of the group candy and by the time it is their turn again they generally have something. Except Halloween bastard 2007! when i told him that he had to think of something and I would give him candy once he used his brain for good, the ass wipe reached into my candy jar and tried to take the candy. So like any good bitch I told him to be on his way becasue there is no way he is getting candy from me. Still not sure if my parents house has been egged yet. but the beer was really good!
We hardly had any kids, but the ones we did have were either:
1. Punks way too old for the job, but I didn't want to piss them off or
2. Little punks who YELLED "TRICK OR TREAT, SMELL MY FEET," etc rather than knocking on the door.
People are awful.
Napoleon was in charge of the candy but he experienced a group of 40 year old women sans costume come to our door... he did not give them candy. Same with the teenage kids without costumes. He promptly shut the door in their faces after they responded to his "What are you supposed to be?" with "Ourselves." I think our house will be egged tonight.
I am all over this topic. Seriously disappointing experience last night. One kid with a pink wig, I asked what he was supposed to be, he shrugged and said 'I dunno'. Lame! We only had 7 kids so I gave everyone candy, but man it really takes the fun out of these things.
We also had a 8 month year old come to our house in the arms of her mom. She was collecting candy too... (but for whom I ask? She is barely on solid food yet!).
We did have one 4 year old Superman (in full gear), who is our most favourite neighbour. He made my whole night. He told me he was having a good time and then ran off with his cape flying! :)
We saw some girls trick or treating while smoking. BG said under his breath (but clearly loud enough so that they could hear, "smoking while trick or treating, REALLY?" They said "Hell Ya" in angry voices and i'm sure flipped us the bird. I'm over Halloween. It's no fun anymore.
we also had a mother with babe in arms come to the door, along with her other children who's bags Wade promptly filled. She had to ask Wade to fill the baby's bag.
Yea, what the hell was up with halloween this year!! Mostly punks in my neighbourhood now too. Numbers were really low and we usually get almost 100. And what the hell is it with kids not using trick or treat bags anymore - just holding out their hands while their pushover parents hold their bag.
Babies getting candy?! That's insane. And totally gross. F&ck off. Go by it for 2/1 at Shoppers today... Gawd...
